Pat entered the IT industry after qualifying and working as an Automotive Engineer and Motor Mechanic, for 10 years. Pat worked up from an apprenticeship through to being a workshop service manager, along the way working in areas as diverse as servicing, warranty clerk, service advisor, workshop management and maintenance.

Wanting to go beyond just understanding the nuts and bolts, Pat moved to the IT industry as an application programmer who wanted to have a deeper understanding of how it worked.  This drive for knowledge took him on a journey via DB2 Administrator, to AIX backup and recovery expert, then to general backup and recovery expert with skills across IBM, EMC, Hitachi, Brocade, Cisco and Veritas products.  Pat’s goal was to always focus on recovering what was critical to the business, not just ticking boxes.

While Pat’s working career in IT has been primarily focused on the Federal Government in Canberra, he has travelled the world sharing his knowledge and experience - from conducting training in India to performing storage remediation in Denmark.

Pat believes that the key to successful IT implementations is gaining a good relationship with the clients and understanding what they are trying to achieve within the scope of their engagement, then delivering it.

During his leisure time Pat likes to spend countless hours photographing deep space objects, sailing his Hobie Adventure Island and swim in the surf!
